Beige Beauties like it long and lean

The long dress for daytime was another statement seen during fashion week. A trend that I can only imagine will increase in popularity come the summer months as it's an easy way to dress. Both of these women chose to accessorize with hats and while one added actual fur, the fox on the other was an animal friendly print.

Underwear/Outerwear

Since NYFW is fast approaching I thought I'd post one of the photos that I took last fashion week but somehow didn't make it onto the blog during the season.  I think this look is interesting because in a way she's not wearing much: shorts that are so small you see the top banding on her nylons and a top that is sheer enough to clearly see her lingerie underneath. What makes it –I won't say classy, but definitely not trashy!– is the simplicity of the top and it's higher neckline. Also the neutral color palette and hair pulled back into a simple ponytail.

Amanda x 2

amanda1
It was a ridiculously beautiful day today –especially considering it's almost November! It can be tough trying to figure out what to wear that works with the weather and the seasons in these instances (at least on the East Coast where it's normally cooler) Amanda kept it simple with lightweight neutrals and knitwear draped around her shoulders to guard against a drop in temperature or the assault of air conditioning. The citron belt adds a nice touch of color as well.amanda2
I added this photo so you can see the sideview of her hairstyle. While I openly hate super long hair with a shaved side, short lengths like this totally work in my opinion. I think they're wildly chic.

Too cool for school

_DSC0025-Edit
With their pouty poses these girls look like the school Queen Bees. But that's just for the camera. In reality they were nice as could be. So what's working here? Beige lace motorcycle jacket and dress (not together) the pink hued hair and off the shoulder top all look great without looking like they're trying too hard. Because they're so not!

flopsy mopsy and...

floppyHat
Continuing with my hat obsession: the floppy hat. The gold scarf on it is a little bright for me, but what I do love here is the tone-on-tone tights and the shoes. Nice.

Ladyfag @ Maison Martin Margiela

ladyfag

I saw the fierce and fabulous Ladyfag at the fragrance launch party at Maison Martin Margiela. I love this woman. She has amazing energy and always surprising style. Here she's a study of beige and black...now all she needs are some MMM shades to truly complete the look. Anyone want to give her a discount?

Boys in trenches and on trend

trench1
trench2
Trench coats are big this spring in womens wear and it's nice to see a few boys picking up the trend as well. Seen last night at the Darker Side of Green cocktail/after party, it was refreshing to see boys not in "all black" ensembles. Bravo to all! And see you at my party ;)

Color Me Beige

beigelingerie
Nothing like a neutral tone to complement the theatrics...of the outfit and the evening.

I ♥ Katie Gallagher

kg2
I just came from the Katie Gallagher show and, along with the Park Choon Moo show this has been one of my favorites so far. The models were little "mini-me's" of Katie in terms of hair and make up and the clothes were her signature mix of textures and layers that are also very body conscious. I'll be doing a longer review with more photos soon but wanted to post one now.

Seen at the Forte Fashion Show

forteShow
Last week we attended the Forte fashion show sponsored by Seam Collective for Gilda's Club NYC. We saw this girl in the audience. She is rocking the studded black leather skirt and suede jacket. A sophisticated and personalized version of rocker chic. (oh and tomorrow an interview with Kenley Collins who was one of the designers in the show!)

Sitting Pretty

seatedGirl

seatedGirl2
I saw this girl backstage at a fashion show last week. Ignoring the headpiece (because that was part of a runway look) I loved how she was this study in beige. And she reminds me of a young Grace Kelly...

Seen at the Eyebeam Mixer

genevieve

So earlier Saturday night we stopped by the hothouse of all things multimedia, Eyebeam, to check out their Mixer. About once a month they have all these crazy interactive and video artist show their work along with a DJ and beer + wine. Always a fun way to mix up the weekend and meet interesting artists. This is Ouida who made an insane installation. We love her front braid and so much beige...to learn more about her art check out intakemanifold.
